This course is designed for students who have recently left school and wish to complete their qualifications so they can move on to higher education or for adult students who are wishing to upskill and get into the workforce.  It's a great way to gain the prerequisites to enter NorthTec, Unitec or AUT courses as well as gaining the key skills to apply for the large amount of advertised office jobs. Students on this course will work mainly in the fields of Computing, Business Administration, Communications and Reception Skills but will have the opportunity to also work on their Numeracy and Literacy.  Fast Track students will all work towards either their NCEA qualifications or some form of National Certificate.

Course Start Date, Duration and Cost

You may enter the course whenever there are vacancies throughout the year and you are allowed 48 weeks to complete the course. Most students take around 6 months to complete any of the National Certificates on offer.  Many of our students go on to complete 2 certificates during their time with us as well as spending time applying for jobs or organising their applications to study at NorthTec, Unitec or AUT.

The cost of this course is FREE as long as you meet the eligibilty criteria set out by TEC for Training Opportunities or Youth Funding.  Call our Head Office to check if you qualify.

Course Outline and Academics

This course is designed to provide you with essential work place skills to help you fast track into employment or further training.  Students can learn office skills, touch typing, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Communication Skills, Reception Skills and the all important MYOB as well as gaining English and Maths credits. Every student will have a unique idea of their career path and the staff at ATC will develop an individual plan to assist them in achieving their desired outcome from the course whether it be going on to study at NorthTec, Unitec or AUT or by gaining employment in their chosen field. ATC also provides job placement assistance, help with preparing for interviews, help with CV preparation, coaching for employment and assistance with pathways onto higher education.

The Fast Track Course has a small class size with friendly like minded people all wishing to further their career opportunities.  You get plenty of contact time with your Tutor due to the small class size and you can learn at your own pace on what ever pathway you choose.  The early school leavers love this course as it gives them a second chance to achieve the credits they need for NCEA Level 1 and once this is achieved it gives them the ability to move onto other courses at NorthTec, Unitec or AUT that they otherwise would not have access to. Our adult students enjoy the fact they can upskill themselves at their own pace, gain confidence in their skills and ability, gain a National Certificate as proof of these new skills and they like the fact that we assist them in finding employment.  The class is a mix of practical work, theory work and class outings to improve everyones knowledge.

Post Placement Support

This is available, for up to 8 weeks, when you move into employment or on completion of your course. At the discretion of Advance Training Centres Ltd this may also include further training where necessary.
